If you found us because you have a persistent, bothersome ringing, roaring, buzzing, or humming in your ears or your head – sound that never goes away unless you’re busy or in a noisy room – you’re in the right place!
This constant, annoying noise is referred to as "tinnitus," which is defined as the perception of sound when no corresponding external sound is present. It can interfere with concentration and is exacerbated by stress or fatigue. It affects between 10-15% of people and can seriously adversely affect a person’s quality of life.
The most frequent cause of tinnitus is damage to the hearing system, but it can exist without hearing loss, too. It is typically described as a ringing, roaring, buzzing or humming, but occasionally takes the form of a continuous high-pitched whining, whistling, hissing, sizzling, tinging, or even crickets/cicadas sound that never goes away.
Besides being annoying, it can cause anxiety, depression, and even panic attacks because the sufferer feels trapped by something over which they have no control. Even worse, the sounds can intensify with stress or fatigue, which means that your stress about tinnitus can exacerbate your tinnitus ‒ a challenging cycle!
Prior to coming to us, many of our patients have tried all sorts of things to alleviate their suffering ‒ lotions, pills, massage, you name it, and few have found any relief.
But the good news is that there is real help available!
If you or someone you care about is suffering from tinnitus, the audiologists at Hearing and Speech Connection have a unique approach to treat this burdensome problem.
Lenire is a treatment device proven in a large-scale clinical trial to reduce the severity of tinnitus. Use it from the comfort of home to manage your tinnitus with the help of a qualified healthcare professional. Soothing sounds and gentle pulses on your tongue help you pay less attention to your tinnitus.
We use specialized technology that fits either behind the
ear or deep in the ear canal. In the vast majority of cases,
tinnitus is eliminated, and most other patients experience
improvement to the point that the ringing is bearable.
Although most people find relief, many of our patients are rightfully hesitant because of past lack of success. We eliminate financial risk by utilizing a trial system to determine which of our patients can be helped, BEFORE any purchase is made. As our partner in treating your tinnitus, you’ll spend at least two weeks in trial devices, with all of the adjustments and tweaking you’ll need performed in our office, and allowing ample time for your concerns to be addressed.
Once you experience the improvement these devices typically provide, you’ll be able to order your own set and return the trial pair.
Our approach is unique because of the technology we use, the time spent getting it right, and our commitment to ensuring your success!
