Emma Swanson
SLP-CF
Hey, I'm Emma, and I'm from Billings, born and raised! I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology and English, with a concentration in creative writing, from Rocky Mountain College. After publishing short stories and spending a year in journalism, I discovered speech-language pathology and dove right in. I earned my leveling certificate in communication science disorders before completing my graduate program in speech-language pathology at the University of Montana. Go Griz! (And to my little brother and any other Bobcats, I’m sorry!)
I’m currently completing my fellowship at Hearing and Speech Connection and couldn’t be happier. As a Montanan, I’m passionate about serving the people of the state that shaped me. During graduate school, I worked with people ages two to 102, addressing a wide range of communication needs. This included developing language through sign, AAC, or speech; improving speech sound production; rebuilding communication skills after a life-altering stroke; and maintaining language abilities to support quality of life and social participation.
I approach every person with an open mind, an open heart, and a commitment to collaborative, meaningful therapy.
Outside of the clinic, I love to travel! I've been to 12 countries so far and I'm already planning my next trip. On a day-to-day basis, I love taking my dog to the dog park, watching movies, reading, and finding time to play video games with friends. At the end of the day, it's all about connecting with the people in my life.
