The Hearing Assessment Process: What to Expect
Understanding what to expect during your hearing assessment can ease any anxiety you may have.

Initial Consultation
During your first visit, you’ll meet with an audiologist who will discuss your medical history and any concerns you might have regarding your hearing. This is a friendly, informal chat that sets the tone for your assessment.

Hearing History Review
You'll be asked questions about your hearing habits, exposure to loud noises, and any family history of hearing issues. This helps your audiologist tailor the assessment to your specific needs.

Hearing Tests
Several tests will be performed to evaluate different aspects of your hearing:
Pure-Tone Audiometry: This test determines the softest sounds you can hear at different frequencies.
Speech Audiometry: For this test you’ll listen to and repeat back words at varying volumes to assess how well you understand speech.
Middle Ear Evaluation: This test checks the functionality of your eardrum and middle ear bones.

Results Discussion
After testing, your audiologist will review the results with you. They’ll explain any findings in clear, understandable terms so that you know what’s next, whether that includes a treatment plan or further evaluations.

Customized Action Plan
